This month, we will take a closer look at the Board of Governors. In addition to the five elected officers, the Board includes five non-officer members. These positions are generally elected to two-year terms. Like the officers, candidates are nominated in November and elected at the December General Membership Meeting.

Occasionally, a board position becomes vacant before the end of a term. When this occurs, a replacement is elected or appointed to serve the remainder of the unexpired term.

To be eligible for election to the Board of Governors, a candidate must be a regular member in good standing. The membership seeks individuals who approach issues objectively, without a particular agenda, and who carefully consider proposals and decisions brought before the Board for review.

The 2026 season is progressing well. Striper season was excellent this year, with anglers reporting both abundant catches and impressive-sized striped bass.

The start of the Looper season has also been very positive. Our transient business has been brisk, with strong demand for both dockage and fuel sales. We have earned an excellent reputation among professional delivery captains and are pleased to welcome many of them back on a regular basis.

I believe our investment in sponsoring the AGLCA has contributed to increased bookings from Loopers making their way toward the canal system. We look forward to continuing to serve this growing segment of the boating community throughout the season.

The club facilities are looking great. There is, however, a significant change to our pool operations this season. The Rensselaer County Pool Inspector has implemented an additional requirement: a CPR-certified individual must be on site whenever the pool is open. The certification must have been completed or renewed within the past year.

Because our Dockmasters maintain current CPR certification, the pool's standard operating hours will be 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, seven days a week.

Toni Cristo is working to expand the pool hours beyond this schedule. If you hold a current CPR certification and are willing to volunteer some time to help provide additional coverage, please contact Toni. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

That’s it for this month.
