Hudson River Boaters Seeing Strong Start to 2026 Season

21 May 2026 12:25 | Anonymous

The 2026 boating season is off to a strong start along the Hudson River, with marinas, yacht clubs, and waterfront destinations already seeing increased activity during the early spring weather. Fuel docks are reopening, transient slips are beginning to fill on weekends, and boaters are once again making plans for trips north toward the Erie and Champlain Canals.

Marine businesses across the region are also reporting growing demand for seasonal maintenance, electronics upgrades, and safety equipment as more boaters prepare for longer cruising adventures this summer. Industry experts continue to point toward expanding interest in recreational boating, particularly among families and first-time boat owners looking for outdoor activities closer to home.

At the same time, boating safety remains a major focus throughout New York State. The state’s boating safety certificate requirement is now fully in effect for all operators, making this an important season for education and responsible boating. Members are encouraged to confirm that everyone operating their vessel carries the required certification before heading out on the water.

With Memorial Day weekend approaching and warmer temperatures arriving, the Hudson River boating community is looking forward to another active and enjoyable season on the water.
