The New York State Canal Corporation today announced the following update:
Mariners are advised that Cayuga/Seneca Canal Locks C/S-1, Erie Canal Lock E-24 and Lock E-25, previously announced as closed due to high water, will be reopened for navigation effective Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. Boaters should also note that water levels on these areas remain high and will need to take precautions and be aware of floating debris and proceed at a "No Wake" speed as some debris may be hard to see.
Additional Information for Mariners
Boaters transiting between Lock E-8 in Rotterdam and Lock E-16 in St. Johnsville may experience low water as the Canal Corporation removes debris from the movable dams and resets water control structures after the recent high flow event.
