The Fairport Crew Club will host a regatta on Saturday, September 26, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event will take place between Kreag Road Park and Perinton Park, with approximately 100 paddlers expected to participate.

Law enforcement and safety boats will be on hand to monitor the event. Recreational boaters traveling through the area are asked to exercise caution, reduce speed, and maintain No Wake speed when approaching participants.

It’s hard to believe how quickly the summer has gone, but we now have just one month left in the 2026 boating season at Albany Yacht Club. Our season officially comes to an end on October 15.

September and early October can offer some of the best boating of the year on the Hudson River. Cooler temperatures, changing fall colors, and quieter waterways make this a great time to get out and enjoy a few more trips before the boats are put away for the winter.

So don’t put those dock lines away just yet! Take advantage of the remaining weekends, spend some time at the Club, and enjoy the Hudson while you still can.

Following the historic rainfall that brought flooding and significant debris to the Capital Region, members of the Albany Yacht Club came together to help restore the marina.

Over the course of two days, volunteers worked to clear logs, branches, and other debris that had accumulated around the docks, allowing the marina to safely return to normal operations. The cleanup effort brought together a strong mix of longtime members and many of the club's newer members, reflecting the community spirit that has long been a hallmark of AYC.

A particularly notable contribution came from the "Sailboat Gang," a group made up primarily of newer members, who spent many hours clearing debris both immediately after the storm and again the following day. Their efforts, combined with those of many other volunteers throughout the marina, made a significant impact on the cleanup.

The response demonstrated the value of volunteer involvement at the Albany Yacht Club. By working together after one of the most significant weather events to affect the region in recent years, members helped restore the marina quickly and ensured it was ready for everyone to enjoy once again.

Three spots have been reserved for Albany Yacht Club members in a free CPR certification course offered by SUNY Adirondack. Having more CPR-certified members helps ensure we have qualified volunteers available to meet pool safety requirements throughout the season.

This course is open to adults 18 and older and is funded through the New York State Department of Health's Healthcare Education and Life-Skills Program (HELP).

The training is also ideal for coaches who need CPR/AED certification. New York State requires all interscholastic coaches to hold a valid in-person CPR certification before the first day of practice. Online-only courses do not satisfy this requirement.

Boaters are advised that a fireworks display will take place near Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady on Thursday, July 2, at dusk. The fireworks barge will be anchored in the navigation channel between Red Buoys 84 and 86, and a 125-yard security zone will be in effect during the event. If you plan to transit through the area, please maintain a safe distance from the fireworks barge, operate at no-wake speed (5 mph or less), and be prepared for heavier-than-normal boat traffic and numerous anchored spectator vessels. Law enforcement will be on the water to monitor traffic and help ensure a safe event. Please use extra caution and enjoy the holiday safely.

Looking for a fun day on the water? The Crescent Boat Club Poker Run returns on Saturday, July 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the Mohawk River between Locks 6 and 7. Participants can enjoy a scenic run, test their luck for cash prizes, and finish the day with a pig roast dinner featuring coleslaw, corn, and salads. DJ Ernie will provide music from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., and a 50/50 raffle will be held during the event. Registration and launch are at Crescent Boat Club, 142 Canal Road, Halfmoon. Non-members are welcome, with free transient dockage available Friday and Saturday. Register by July 15. Dinner and one poker hand are $40, dinner only is $30 ($15 for children), with additional hands available.

Mark your calendars for one of Albany Yacht Club's favorite summer traditions, the Steak and Clam Bake, taking place on Saturday, August 15. Join fellow members and guests for an afternoon and evening of great food, waterfront fun, and camaraderie.

Steamed littleneck clams will be served beginning at 3:30 p.m. for $10 per dozen, followed by a hearty 16-ounce New York Strip Steak Dinner at 5:00 p.m. for $35, complete with salad, corn on the cob, baked potato, and dessert. A kid-friendly hot dog dinner will also be available for just $5.

The swimming pool will be open, drink specials will be available at the bar, and there will be cornhole, lawn games, and activities for the kids. Members arriving by boat can take advantage of available dockage by contacting the Dockmaster.

Reservations are required by August 10 and can be made through the AYC website calendar. We look forward to seeing everyone for a fantastic day of food, fun, and fellowship at the club.

The Hudson River Maritime Museum will host a special family performance of Little Red Riding Hood on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Award-winning puppeteer Liz Joyce will bring the classic fairy tale to life with humor, music, handcrafted puppets, and plenty of audience participation.

This fun and interactive production features a playful twist as Little Red Riding Hood meets Porquoi the pig, who accidentally wanders in from another story. Families are encouraged to cheer on Little Red as she tries to outsmart the wolf.

The show is designed for young audiences and is perfect for families looking for a fun outing along the Kingston waterfront.

Boaters traveling the Cayuga/Seneca Canal this weekend should be aware of a temporary navigation closure near Lock CS-4 in Waterloo due to a fireworks display scheduled for Saturday, May 23 at dusk (rain date: Sunday, May 24).

A 100-yard security zone will be established around the fireworks staging area, and vessel traffic will not be permitted through the area during the show. Law enforcement agencies will be on site to monitor boat traffic and ensure safety.

Members cruising in the area are encouraged to plan accordingly and use caution near Waterloo during the event.
